Have customers told you any good stories about their experiences here or their history with Russ & Daughters?
People feel a connection to the store and to the neighborhood, even if they've moved far away and are just here for a visit. One customer comes in specifically to buy sour pickle juice because it is the secret ingredient in one of his recipes.

When you're not slicing lox, what do you like to do?
I dream about my golf swing, I play golf, and I am the drummer in a rock and roll/blues band.

Why do you think that Russ & Daughters has managed to stay around for nearly 100 years and maintain the reputation that we have?
Definitely the quality and attention to detail. The family, literally, but also the feeling of family that is clear throughout the store. There is a German word -- "gemutlikeit" -- that translates roughly as a familiar joy and pride, and that's close to what it is.
