Holland Herring Facts

The mildest and fattiest of all herring, the Fresh Catch Holland Herring comes in once a year. This sashimi quality herring is released usually at the beginning of June, but only after the Queen of Holland has had her first taste! It is served best with fine chopped Vidalia Sweet Onion and Rye Finn Crisp Crackers. Pairs beautifully with our new German Style Potato Salad!

Our Very Own Fresh Catch

After three years away from the business, Niki Russ Federman, great-granddaughter of the original Joel Russ, is returning to Russ and Daughters. She will be joining her cousin, Josh Russ Tupper, our long-time manager, Herman Vargas, and the Russ and Daughters team to continue the store's family tradition.

In the past, Niki has helped support the staff at the store during the busy holidays. She also conceptualized and  developed our catering packages and website (russanddaughters.com). She has been away for three years, spending some time in graduate school and working on her own and now she is coming back to her roots.  Says Niki, "It's just too great a place to stay away from." She will be starting full time on June 21st. We are all excited to see how her outside experience will  contribute and enhance the store's dynamic.

We are pleased to introduce our  new hand-selected Comté , expertly handled and perfectly ripened. This terrific discovery has a complex flavor that is nuanced and rich. This is not your typical Comt é . Ask for a taste when you are in the store. It has our regulars asking for more!

Our Fresh Mozzarella is tender and flavorsome. It is produced to order by practiced manufacturers in small batches. Don't miss out– we only carry it during the summer months.
